Edge-to-edge all over quilting is when the pattern that is quilted is the same design repeated over the entire quilt. When choosing a pattern, I like to pull an element from the fabric in the quilt and mimic it or select a complimentary design to the fabric in the quilt.

Custom quilting uses different designs elements throughout the quilt. For example, I may quilt feathers on the border and echoing arrows on the star blocks.
